What will you do

The transition from pleasure to professionalism requires more than just practice at the helm. To pass the exam RYA Yachtmaster Offshore SAILit is essential to demonstrate total mastery of both the boat and international regulations. I have structured this 4-day course to offer you comprehensive training that alternates between intensive sessions at sea and technical modules in the classroom.

The goal is only one: to give you the mathematical certainty that you can tackle the Yachtmaster course and come out of it promoted, with a preparation that goes far beyond the basic standards.

From Carteggio to Passage Planning: Theory in the Classroom

A skipper's safety begins on land, before he even casts off. In the classroom we will delve into everything that turns a navigator into a professional:

  • Weather and Synoptic Analysis: You will learn how to read weather models to predict the evolution of the weather during navigation.
  • Tides and Currents: precise calculations to navigate safely in areas with strong tidal ranges, which is essential for northern European waters.
  • Carteggio e Navigazione Tradizionale: We will refine the technique on paper to ensure millimetric precision even without the aid of electronics.
  • COLREG and Regulations: an in-depth review of international rules to prevent collisions at sea, analysing complex scenarios and manoeuvre priorities.
  • Passage Planning and Routing: We will study how to plan a safe and optimal route, managing variables such as traffic, seabed and shelter.

Practical Experience: Manoeuvres and Night Navigation

At sea, we will put theory into practice under pressure. We will focus on handling the boat in all conditions, with a special focus on the night navigation. You will learn to recognise lighthouse sectors, ship lights and maintain orientation when visual references diminish.

We will work on the leadership and crew managementsimulating examination situations in which your ability to give clear orders and make quick decisions will be decisive.

Why is this course your best investment?

Many skippers fail the Yachtmaster because they neglect the details of the routing or get caught in the currents. With this 4-day training, we will close any gaps. You will have the basics, the technical certainties and the mindset to face the Royal Yachting Association with the knowledge of someone who knows exactly what he is doing.
